Self-Acupressure and for Healing Others
This Acupressure point GB 40, also improves the health of your ankle joint by strengthening it. Thus, it can prevent ankle problems as well as relieve them. GB 40, which is found on both the right and left ankles, works like a charm.
I have successfully used this Acupressure point on myself and for many others. GB 40, known as the Wilderness Mound point, relieves ankle pain, stiffness, and weakness, and helps ankle sprains, swollen ankles, pain on the top of the foot, and sciatica.
Use light touch on injuries. If you damaged or broke your ankle, or if your ankle is weak, painful, or extremely fragile, then use only light touch on this Acupressure point. I’ve gotten great results from using GB 40 on the same foot that hurts, is weak, or has been injured.
If light touch is too painful, due to the trauma or injury, then press into GB 40 on the other foot. Continue this until your body can handle light pressure on the ankle that hurts.
Point Location
GB 40 is in the large hollow directly in front of the outer ankle joint on the top of both feet.
How to Apply Pressure
Hold GB 40 for five to ten minutes, by gradually alternating every sixty seconds or so between light and firm pressure (unless you need only light touch). Breathe deeply as you hold the point. At the end of holding the point, use a minute of light touch, without pressure, as you continue to breathe deeply.
To Heal your Ankle
Hold GB 40 until you feel an even pulse at the point. After using this point for a few days, you’re making good progress if you find you’re getting a clearer pulsation at the point sooner. Be encouraged to continue — you’re getting the healing energy to flow through the ankle joint.
Emotional Benefits
GB 40 is good for relieving irritability, frustration, and difficulty in making good, wise decisions.
