Acupressure for Balancing the Thyroid Gland

5th Chakra Governs Throat, Voice, Thyroid and Self-Expression
5th Chakra Functions —
Balancing Thyroid & Metabolism
The 5th chakra is a vital energy center located in the throat and the cervical spine. It regulates your voice, self-expression, and ability to communicate. The 5th chakra throat energy center is vital for regulating your metabolism, cultivating your creativity, and thus your personal growth.

Acupressure neck and chest points enable healing energy, known as Qi or Chi, to move through the thyroid, which is located at the base of your throat. Opening the energy flow through the thyroid gland can balance both over-active (hyperthyroid) and under-active (hypothyroid) conditions, thus restoring homeostasis, or balance. It does take consistent practice to maintain this equilibrium.

Thyroid imbalances can be the result of blockages in the 5th chakra, which can cause weight problems, chronic fatigue, feelings of being overwhelmed, anxiety, emotional imbalances, hair loss, skin problems, depression, blocked self-expression, or any combination of these.

The video above will get you started by presenting a pair of Acupressure points for balancing your thyroid. To discover even more, there’s another resource for you — the online training, Self-Healing Acupressure Solution, with video lessons on natural approaches for common ailments.
Thyroid Balancing
An Overview Using Natural Methods
You can begin to restore the energy flow through this vital endocrine gland with the Thyroid Self-Acupressure Routine. This routine includes Acupressure points and exercises done with deep breathing; dietary changes; yoga postures; and addressing emotional issues and learning assertive communication.

It includes a powerful but easy-to-do exercise that stimulates the most potent Acupressure points for balancing the thyroid gland. Many people with a history of thyroid problems, who have received medical advice and treatment, can also use these natural methods to balance the thyroid successfully without side effects.
Important Note: If you have any medical problems or symptoms, please see a doctor for medical advice and treatment before doing any of these routines. The Acupressure points and guidance here are a complement to medical treatment, not a substitute for it.
Thyroid Self-Care Acupressure Routine
To get the best results, follow this complete routine which uses a dynamic integration of Acupressure exercises with breathwork (deep breathing), emotional healing techniques, dietary change considerations, and yoga therapeutic postures and exercises.
Head up With Elbows Apart
Self-Acupressure Exercises
Stimulate the thyroid points daily on your neck and chest as instructed below. The most healing thyroid points are located near your thyroid gland and are called the Windows of the Sky. These points are stimulated effectively in the first routine, called the Neck Press Exercise. The second routine, the K 27 Self-Acupressure Thyroid Sequence, stimulates important points that also help balance the thyroid.

Practice Requirements: Practice these two Acupressure breathwork exercises 3 to 5 times daily for at least several months, preferably for the rest of your life to keep your thyroid gland in balance.
Head Forward With Elbows Closed
Neck Press Exercise
Sit comfortably with your eyes closed and your hands interlaced behind your neck, letting your head come backward to gently support your neck muscles. Bring your elbows close together in front of you, pointing downward, compressing the sides of your neck with the heels of your hands.

Inhale deeply, raising your head as you gently stretch your elbows out to the sides, while letting your head tilt back. Exhale as you head relaxes forward and your elbows come close together in front of you again. Repeat this breathing exercise for two minutes, then continue with the K 27 Self-Acupressure Thyroid Sequence.
K 27 Self-Acupressure Thyroid Sequence
Start by holding K 27, the Elegant Mansion Acupressure points, located under the collarbone near the side of the sternum. With your eyes still closed, take long, slow, deep breaths as you slowly let your head turn from side to side. Feel your entire neck region relax as you continue to breathe deeply and move your head, while holding these points for about a minute.
K 27 Benefits the Thyroid
Change Direction
Next, keep holding K 27 as you change direction. Now, gently let your head tilt upward as you inhale and downward as you exhale, continuing for about a minute. As you do this, use your mind to visualize more blood flowing through your thyroid gland at the base of your throat.

Finish by relaxing and sitting quietly, let your hands rest comfortably in your lap, and take another minute or two to let yourself completely relax. Sit up with a straight spine and meditate on breathing slowly and deeply for a few minutes.

Be sure to practice these two exercises 3 to 5 times daily for at least 3 months. Once you begin to achieve results and your thyroid balances, you can do these exercises fewer times per day for maintenance and prevention. It’s a lot of work to take your health into your own hands, but once you do, it’s an empowering, gratifying feeling.

Emotional Healing
Causes of Thyroid Issues
Thyroid problems can often be caused by traumatic events or inner conflicts, which may have occurred years ago. Thyroid blockages commonly present themselves during these hard, stressful times, when we aren’t supported to fully express our feelings and needs. Blocked self-expression can contribute to chronic neck tension. This constricts the energy flow through your thyroid gland and affects its functioning.
Self-Expression & Assertiveness
Expressing yourself appropriately harmonizes your thyroid and your mind/body issues. Many people minimize their needs and feel they are not living their dreams. They may have difficulty expressing these needs, goals, and life aspirations.

Getting support from others can make a huge difference. It can help you express your feelings, formulate creative goals, and enhance your self-expression and assertiveness. Sources of support include can include family, friends, counseling, and self-help groups. If you have experienced significant stress, counseling can help you move beyond it. When you practice speaking your truth in appropriate ways, your thyroid will respond, and will begin to come back to life.

A Thyroid Balancing Success Story
"My wife, who had a hyperactive thyroid condition, healed herself with a few years of using this holistic program. She chose not to take radioactive iodine, which would have made her thyroid under-active, causing her to be dependent on taking thyroid supplements for the rest of her life. Instead, she had the courage to change her diet, completely eliminating all sugar for three months. She continues to reduce her sugar intake significantly of all sugars and sweets.

She regularly practiced the Acupressure exercises described above. She found that doing the Shoulder Stand and Plow Pose yoga postures with long, deep breathing at night, before bedtime, helped her tremendously. In the morning, she practiced 15 minutes of the Five Tibetan Rites exercises, known as “Tibetan Yoga.” Some of these are more strenuous than others, but whatever you can do should be helpful. Finally, she also often received weekly Acupuncture treatments."
