This instructional video presents how to find and use Sp 16.
Sp 16 Guidelines & Benefits
There is a useful digestive aid Acupressure point that's at the base of your rib cage. When someone overeats either a favorite food, or overeats in general, this point and the muscles that attach to the rib cage, tend to cramp. This often feels like an uncomfortable ache, and the abdominal blockage, or cramping, can extend into the stomach, often causing a stomach ache.
A side ache, gas pain, ulcer pain, abdominal cramps, side stitches, rib pain, appetite imbalances, and hiccups can all be relieved by simply holding this Sp 16 point for a couple of minutes. When you get right to the point at the base of the rib cage, it may feel like it connects with a side ache or gas pain in a way that hurts good.
After holding it for a couple of minutes, taking long deep breaths, you may feel some relief, especially if you hold the point with light pressure, and then gentle touch. Releasing Sp 16 can also create an alkaline and acid balance within your gastrointestinal system, particularly in your stomach.
Feeling for Pulsation
If you tend to have indigestion, side aches, or gas pains, it's highly recommended to hold this point for a couple of minutes, a few times a day. After awhile, when you come off of Sp 16 slowly, holding it gently for another minute, you may begin to feel a pulsation in the pads of your fingertips. This pulse is a good indication that the Sp 16 point is beginning to open. Eventually this will improve your digestion.

Sp 16 Point Location & Pressure Application
Below the edge of your rib cage, in line with your earlobes, one half inch, medial from the nipple line is Sp 16, known as the Abdominal Sorrow point. To find the Abdominal Sorrow point, draw a line down from your earlobes to the bottom of your ribs.
When you have abdominal cramps it's instinctive to bring your forearms into your abdomen and press upward towards the base of your rib cage. To hold the point, curve your fingers and gently press slightly upward and outward on the base of your rib cage. Hold these points firmly for one or two minutes as you take long, deep breaths.

An Instinctive Historical Use of Sp 16
Napoleon Bonaparte, the French military leader, is famous for holding this point. Sp 16 balances the Third Chakra, which governs ego, self-image, and the lust for power, in his case, during the French Revolution. Imagine Napoleon using this point to relieve his gastric pain, indigestion, burping, and bouts with hiccups.
