Reducing a High Fever With Acupressure Points

A high fever can become dangerous and must be brought down. Fortunately, there are three areas of Acupressure points that can reduce a fever:
  • Above and inside the shoulder blade
  • At the base of the fingernails
  • Underneath the base of the skull, on both sides
Be sure to see a doctor if the fever is too high or goes on too long. It’s fine to combine the natural healing of Acupressure and more conventional medical care.

The video above will show you how to bring down a high fever using Acupressure points, and also offers another natural method.

Use one hand above the tip of the shoulder blade, TW 15, and GB 21, while your other hand holds each finger at the base of the nail for a minute each. End by holding the points underneath the base of the skull with thumb and fingers of one hand, while the palm of your other hand gently supports the forehead.
Self-Acupressure Techniques
1. Curve your fingers like the rounded shape of the top of a coat hanger. Place them on the back of your opposite shoulder. Rub the area until you feel the top tip of your shoulder blade. Apply firm pressure just above that, where it feels knotted or tight.

This Triple Warmer point, TW 15, balances temperature in the body, so it’s good for fever as well as chills. Hold this point on both sides for about three minutes each, and breathe deeply.

2. You can also use tennis balls to press the TW 15 point, which can also press GB 21 on the top of your shoulders. Lie on your back and place two tennis balls under the points, so that you can relax into the pressure for about three minutes.

3. Press the base of your fingernails. Use your index fingertip and thumb to squeeze both sides of the base of each nail on the other hand. You can start or end with your thumb, since the order of holding each fingertip does not matter.

Pressing these points at the base of the nail stimulates the digital nerves and meridians and takes down pain as well as fever.

4. End by pressing GB 20, underneath the base of the skull, and breathe slowly and deeply for balancing the energy released.
NOTE: *For extremely high fevers: (over 102 degrees Fahrenheit) take a bath of a mild temperature, between cool and warm.
