Acupressure Points for
Sinus Problems & Nasal Congestion

The sinus cavities are hollow spaces behind your cheekbones, nose, and forehead. Acupressure Routine for Sinus Congestion

Self-Treatment Instructions
I like to hold these facial Acupressure points on both sides at the same time. Apply the pressure gently and gradually, and breathe deeply. After holding each of these points for about 2 to 3 minutes, end by lightly holding the points as you continue to breathe slowly and deeply.

Light touch on the points at the end is very important for getting the energy to flow and for sealing the Acupressure points. If you let yourself take five or ten minutes to lie down and deeply relax immediately afterward, you may find that the results are longer lasting.

Major Acupressure Points for the Sinuses

To open the lower (maxillary) sinuses in the cheeks, use the foremost Acupressure points for the sinuses, LI 20 and St 3. LI 20 is right next to your nose, on the edge of your cheekbone. St 3 is found on the line underneath the center of your eyes, also on the bottom edge of your cheekbone. You can use your index and middle fingers of both hands to hold both points at the same time, on both sides of your nose.

To relieve your upper (frontal) sinuses, use B 2, located on the edge of your upper eye socket, where the bridge of the nose meets the start of your eyebrows. Press upward with your thumbs to stimulate this point, which also relieves mental stress.

Local Sinus Points
These three facial points are found next to your sinuses. Use gentle pressure if the points are sore. All of these points are safe, and useful for friends, family, and even children.

An Additional Point to Use — Hoku (LI 4)
This point is found in the webbing between your thumb and index finger. It’s an Acupressure point for relieving pain in your sinuses that’s not located near your sinuses (a “distal” point). This is a nasal decongestion point, since it opens the descending flows for bring blocked energy downward.

Hold this point on one hand with the thumb and forefinger of the other hand, for 2 to 3 minutes, breathing deeply. End by gradually reducing the pressure.

Other Natural Treatments
