I know that millions of people could get help if they learned this Acupressure point for relieving hip pain, lower backaches, and sciatic pain. I’m giving you both an illustrated anatomical drawing and also a photo that shows how to press it.
I want to make it clear where this point is located and how easy it is to use, so you can help yourself feel better.
So many people suffer from pain deep in this pelvic area or in the lower back or hip. In sciatica, the pain even extends down the back of the leg. Continue reading and I’ll share how I have used this point, B 48, to heal others. I’ve also used it for myself.
Acupressure Pain Relief is a book that’s another one of my many resources for you. It’s a fully-illustrated self-care guide combining Acupressure with gentle stretches and deep breathing. It’s available both as a printed book and also as an eBook.
How to Use Acupressure for B 48
Location Acupressure point B 48 is one to two finger-widths outside the large bony area at the base of the spine (the sacrum) and midway between the top of the hipbone (the iliac crest) and the base of the buttocks.
Directions For best results, press down and inward gradually, towards the center of your pelvis. Hold firmly for a couple of minutes, while breathing deeply, then release gradually.
Benefits of B 48
For Lower Back Pain I will never forget the woman who came to my Acupressure class of over 50 social workers. She told me that she had so much lower back pain that she couldn’t sit in a chair. She had to lie down.
At the break, when she asked for help with her lower back pain, this pelvic point surprised both of us. Even though the B 48 Acupressure point was so much lower than the pain in her back, it relieved her pain significantly in just 10 minutes.
For Sciatica This Acupressure point is one of the most effective spots on the body for relieving the pain of sciatica. To use this point for yourself, get a one-pound bag of beans, and lie on your side so the bag of beans presses into this point. Adjust the position of your legs so it hurts good. Breathe deeply for a few minutes, then move to whatever is the most comfortable position for you, and relax for a few more minutes.
For Child Birth & Postpartum My wife and I decided on having a home birth. The B 48 Acupressure points on both sides of the body, called the Womb and Vitals, were the most important points for assisting my wife to dilate and have our baby. These points are also excellent for postpartum recovery.
Other Benefits These include bladder weakness, urinary problems, hemorrhoids, and pain that goes down the leg.
Another resource for you is the Release Back Pain audio program, available both as an mp3 download and a CD.
